This parrot is NOT dead, but very much alive. And VERY funny.

The British TV series Monty Python’s Flying Circus had a famous sketch about a dead parrot that is very funny. This story, like much of Pratchett’s Discworld novels, reminds me a little of Monty Python. And Eric even has a parrot in it. While not dead, the parrot, and the book as a whole, is very funny.

Eric is a want-to-be demon-summoning “hacker”. In an attempt to summon a demon, he summons instead Rincewind the wizard who was trapped in the Dungeon Dimensions in a previous Discworld novel. The two of them, Eric’s parrot and Rincewind’s sentient Luggage commence to bumble into one adventure after another.

Much better than I thought it would be. Had a few minor issues with it that I won’t bother to go into, mainly because what this book did well, it did very well indeed… Namely keep me entertained and wanting to find out what would happen next.

Dog Dreams

While I probably wouldn’t recommend this dog food, (I am not a dog food expert by any means), I do recommend these commercials. VERY cool. I always watched my dog dreaming and tried to imagine what he was doing in his dreams. I like to think it would be something like what you see in these commercials. My absolute favorite is this first one of these. The last is pretty humorous too. Continue Reading & Watch Some Cool Dog Videos →

014:365:2014 Snowstorm over frozen lake panorama

Tried processing this several ways and while I’m not super happy with the end result I think its not too bad. Initially I really wanted to see the misty foggy look of the far side of the lake, but all my attempts did not come out well. In future I guess I’ll have to try using a tripod and try to shield the lens from falling snow better as the speckling caused by the falling snow and melting snow on the lens really played havoc with this digitally stitched panorama. Ended up going the other way; with this high contrast, dark, sharp & desaturated version which I think came out pretty cool and managed to capture the downright chilly landscape.

012:365:2014 Sooo much football

Today spent working (it’s my ‘friday’) and processing a bunch of photos I took yesterday while watching football playoffs. So no time to take new pics so today’s 365 photo is a shot of football on my TV thrown into Photoshop and distorted with a spherize filter.

PS: Denver Broncos were about to score. Yay!

Lots of Birds – Bear Creek Stroll Slideshow

Went through a after-work stroll through Bear Creek and took my camera. Managed to capture some half-decent photos, a number of a bunch of interesting birds, including: a common goldeneye duck, a female belted kingfisher, an american coot, and a hooded merganser. Oh, and a couple of bunny rabbits too.
