I want to join your Fight by Jeffrey Beaty
What is this feeling?
I haven't felt it in so long.
It's got me reeling.
Can my heart be so wrong?
There is a driving rain
where once there was a desert.
A desire that burns like pain
through walls of fear and hurt.
Dear, I wish that I had
something great that I could give
that could overcome the bad
and make it so we all could live
free of past sorrow
full of joy and blinding light
into a new tomorrow.
I want to join your Fight.
All I have to give's my time,
so much now gone and wasted.
All I have is a heart,
once cold now full and naked.
Your sons shine in your eyes
around which you orbit,
but it's you that's the sunrise,
it's you that completes the circuit.
Dear, I wish that I had
something great that I could give
that could overcome the bad
and make it so we all could live
free of past sorrow
full of joy and blinding light
into a new tomorrow.
I want to join your Fight.
Whatever may come to be
I'll always be on your side.
Regret is just the past's debris,
in me you can confide.
I'll take whatever you can give
I'll be your friend and ally,
Through all the trials in this life we live,
Let's never say goodbye.
Dear, I wish that I had
something great that I could give
that could overcome the bad
and make it so we all could live
free of past sorrow
full of joy and blinding light
into a new tomorrow.
I want to join your Fight.
