“Springs Kum&Go” taken 6/19/2020, edited & posted 6/20
A sign at a “Kum & Go” convenience store in Colorado Springs. (Hey, I didn’t name the place, that’s just the way they spell it.) They use the ampersand symbol for a bunch of stuff, even their door handles were big ampersands. I actually took this photo yesterday when stopping to grab a snack and thought the Colorado Springs painting on it was pretty cool. Other side had a bunch of generic slogans.
It was pretty cloudy & gloomy, but I played around and I think I managed to get the sign to pop like it would in bright sunlight, and then tried a variety of blurs on the background as I wanted to get a “kum & go” motion blur effect instead of the gloomy & boring background of parked cars. I ended up liking this radial blur better than a traditional motion blur. It’s kind of like the world is spinning around the ampersand. ;-p
I like the result even though I should go back and clean it up some or select the edges around the ampersand a little better as there are some pretty messy parts where my smart selection tool and my patience failed me. Still I like the result enough that rather than slap my generic 2020_365 watermark on it, I used my current “goto” photo-site watermark as I feel it is “worthy”. 🙂
